When shooting at goal from a distance or making longer passes to your team mates, you need both power and accuracy. The top of the foot where the laces are on a traditional boot is the best part of the foot to use for this kick. This is the shaded area on the photograph. It gives you a flat surface with which to kick the ball giving you better power and control over the ball. Try not to kick the ball with your toe.

Balance helps to gain accuracy and power. It's achieved by using your non-kicking foot - the left in the video - as an anchor, and by putting your arms out. Place your non-kicking foot where you feel comfortable, but it should be close to the ball. If you are well balanced, you should be able to stand on your non-kicking foot for several seconds without falling over. Try it!
Try to approach the ball from the side rather than straight on. It makes it easier to drive the ball than if you come at it straight on. Keep your knee bent over the ball as you kick, and keep your head over the ball. By having your head over the ball, you will be able to keep the ball close to the ground rather than kicking it over the cross bar. Also notice the long follow-through, kicking through the ball with a smooth action.
In training, you should hit the ball firmly whilst concentrating on accuracy. Your practice must be realistic otherwise you will find yourself being hurried and booting the ball all over the field in a match situation. At the same time avoid the temptation to blast the ball as hard as possible. The correct technique with timing and control come first. Power comes later.
Be sure to practise kicking with both feet. There will be plenty of occasions during a match when you do not have time to move the ball onto your favourite foot. The ability to score goals and make accurate passes with both feet is extremely useful.
When kicking with your weaker foot, put your opposite arm out for balance, and lean over as you kick. Notice how far you lean when kicking with your best foot, and then try to lean by the same amount when kicking with your weaker foot.
